Stained Glass Worksop

Guest Teacher: Nancy Jackson

Nancy Jackson is a stained glass artist and owner of Kay’s Glass Studio in Granger, Indiana. Inspired by the beauty of stained glass windows in churches and the way light transforms color, she began creating stained glass in 2015, following in the footsteps of both her mother and grandmother.

Before discovering glass, Nancy spent years quilting, where she developed a strong appreciation for color, pattern, and craftsmanship. Those skills continue to influence her glasswork today. Working primarily in the copper foil technique, she creates everything from whimsical suncatchers to intricate three-dimensional sculptures and larger decorative panels. Her goal is to make stained glass approachable and enjoyable, offering pieces at a variety of sizes and price points so more people can experience the beauty of the medium.

Nancy volunteered for six years at a stained glass studio in Elkhart, Indiana, where she refined her skills while assisting with classes and mentoring new artists. She now teaches stained glass workshops throughout northern Indiana, helping beginners discover the joy of creating with glass.

Her work has been exhibited at festivals and galleries throughout the Midwest and beyond, including Penrod Arts Fair, Art Beat South Bend, Art in the Park (Fort Wayne), Lakeshore Art Festival (Michigan), Rebel Art Fest, Manayunk Arts Festival (Philadelphia), and the Delphi Glass Stained Glass Festival, where she has received multiple awards. One of her signature works, a three-dimensional stained glass carousel lamp, has been on permanent display at the Merry-Go-Round Museum in Sandusky, Ohio, since 2019.

Through every piece she creates, Nancy hopes to capture the warmth, color, and wonder that first drew her to stained glass, inviting others to experience the beauty of light shining through glass.

ABOUT THE OWNER

My dream has always been to open an art school and gallery. I taught K-8th grade art for seven years, then began focusing on my own artwork. I have been selling my artwork at fairs and markets but my passion for teaching still lingers. The most exciting part of these art markets has been when I inspire people to create their OWN artwork.

I create a wide variety of art, jewelry and crochet. I have had artwork displayed throughout Indiana. My favorite art shows I participate in are the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Fort Wayne and the Penrod Art Fair in Indianapolis.  You can also find me on Saturday at the YLNI Farmer’s Market.

Come and visit this beautiful space and be inspired to create your individual, unique artwork.
